Statement on Trump’s Illegal Military Action in Venezuela

It is difficult to overstate how destabilizing Trump’s illegal military action is to Venezuela, Latin America and the world. That Maduro was a terrible dictator is no excuse for the Executive Branch to act without the consent of the American people as represented by Congress, and mandated by the Constitution. Mike Lawler’s praise is a pathetic display of weakness and capitulation to Trump, who seeks to further undermine the authority of Congress while attempting to distract Americans from the affordability crisis our nation is enduring. Now more than ever we need Representatives who will stand up to Trump and his authoritarian administration.
